History
Gemini began in 1960 and was incorporated in 1964 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, specializing
in the manufacture of vacuum-formed plastic products. In 1966 the company first began
manufacturing plastic letters, marking the beginning of our involvement in the sign
industry.
The company's steady growth during the 1960's was interrupted briefly by a major fire in
1968 which destroyed the plant and office. Within months, however, Gemini recovered from
this devastating setback and established new quarters along Highway 100 in St. Louis Park,
Minnesota.
The company continued its brisk expansion and soon outgrew its space in St. Louis Park. A
search for a new site began with the goal of being close to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area
which would accommodate future growth. We found such a place in Cannon Falls, Minnesota,
and in 1972 established our new Letter Division in that city. In 1974, Gemini moved its
newly-formed Case Division to Cannon Falls. By 1978 all company operations had been
relocated to the Cannon Falls area.
- The Letter Division, which supplies a wide range of outdoor dimensional letters
to the sign industry and graphics resellers primarily in the U.S. and Canada, although in
recent years usage of Gemini Letters has been growing in overseas markets. The letter
division manufactures formed letters, changeable copy, injection molded, cast metals, flat
cut letters of metal and plastic, metal plaques, trimcap for neon faced letters, and
channel letters for neon. In 1987, a Texas regional extension of the Letter Division was
completed. Also in 1987, a metal letter plant was built in Decorah, Iowa, and an injection
molded letter plant was completed in 1991 adjacent to the metal letter plant. A third
letter facility was completed in Decorah in 1994. In 1991 a new letter plant was completed
in Neustadt, Ontario, and in 1994 a formed letter plant was started in Fallon, Nevada, to
serve the West Coast. In 1991 Gemini purchased the Bevelite-Adler company in Gardena,
California. Bevelite-Adler was a producer of changeable gas station numerals and flat
silk-screened letters for changeable copy signs. In mid-1994 the Gardena plant was closed
and the operations were relocated to Taylor, Texas. In 1995, construction began on a metal
letter foundry in Taylor. In 1998 Gemini built its latest plant addition in Farmville,
Virginia to serve its East Coast customers. Today, Gemini has over 250,000 square feet of
floor area located in eleven separate buildings in five states and Canada, staffed with
over 400 associates who work with state of the art equipment, to supply the world's finest
letters. We are the largest manufacturer of outdoor three dimensional letters in the
world.
